Pitman BioBlitz

Join us for the 1st Annual Pitman Environmental Commission Pitman BioBlitz!
When? June 10th from 7am-12am
Where? Alcyon Park in Pitman
Event Description :

A BioBlitz is a community event encouraging citizen science that focuses on finding and identifying as many living species of plants and animals as possible within a specific area over a short period of time. This is a way of promoting environmental education, understanding local ecology, and supporting environmental protections.

At the Pitman BioBlitz, participants will traverse Alcyon Park to identify plants and animals of the local environment using tools like ID Books and their smartphones with the iNaturalist app.

This event is appropriate for anyone. All are welcome- families are encouraged!

Engaging presentations and activities will be led by local citizen scientists, professionals, municipal leadership, and local environmental organizations throughout the day (and night!) on a variety of exciting topics! Local environmental organizations will also be present tabling with activities and Volunteer Citizen Scientists (local to Pitman) will be supporting BioBlitz attendees around the park.
